Chinese New Year "Fortune" Set Menu @ Palace of the Golden Horses

Chinese New Year is soon upon us and this Lunar New Year we are ushering in the Year of the Dog. We were honoured to be invited to a special preview of the Chinese New Year menu of Kim Ma Restaurant at Palace of the Golden Horses. Toss your way to good fortune with yee sang and delectable 'Fortune' set menus available throughout the month of January and February 2018. There are three types of set menu priced starts from RM1088nett for a table of 10 persons curated by the young and talented Chef Chris and his team. The signature dish lined up in the set menu is the Poached Free-range Chicken which is a must try! On top of that, look out for the prawn dishes and Geoduck with Spicy Scallop too.

Double boiled Minced Chicken Broth with Superior Fish Maw and Shimeji Mushrooms
Hearty and tasty, the wholesome chicken broth was fantastic and rich in flavour.

 Cantonese-style Smoked Salted Free-range Chicken
The nicely browned smoked chicken not only looks amazing, it tastes amazing too, juicy and tender with a subtle smoky flavour.

Traditional Steamed River Cat Fish with Superior Soy Sauce
Superb fresh, the cat fish looked and smelt delicious. Cooked to perfection, the fish was firm and juicy, with its natural sweetness retains.

Stir-fried Large Tiger Prawns with Special Mongolian Sauce
Sweet and savoury, the prawns were succulent and juicy, absolutely addictive.

Mushroom Dumplings with Seasonal Green Vegetables in Pumpkin Sauce
The little dumplings filled with assorted mushroom was bursting with flavours and textures, whilst the creamy and luscious pumpkin sauce truly elevate the dish flavour.

Steamed Mini Glutinous Rice in Lotus Leaf
Fluffy and moist, the dumpling stuffed with glutinous rice, salted egg, shitake, shallots and slices of Chinese sausages was truly delicious and packed an abundance of flavours.

Double-boiled Pineapple and Water Chestnut with Peach Jelly
Frankly, I don't really enjoy this, as the sweet soup was a tad too sourish and tangy.

 Sweet Fancy Duet
Mango cake and steamed nian gao with grated coconut were perfect to end the meal on a sweet note.

The restaurant has a seating capacity of 120 pax with five private rooms. Its posh decoration plus a subtle play of shades in gold create a tasteful ambiance and exude elegant timelessness.
