A Nostalgic Ramadan Journey @ Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre

The Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre’s (the Centre) popular corporate and public Ramadan buka puasa offerings return this year to take diners on a nostalgic journey around Malaysia! This year’s Ramadan menu features a host of traditional favourites from various states, including signature dishes such as sup urat kaki dan tetel (Perlis), nasi dagang tulang rusuk kerutup bakar (Terengganu), udang goreng keriuk-keriuk minyak (Kelantan) and ayam olek-olek bumbu cekur (Sabah), to name a few.

Ulam-ulaman
Diners will get to experience our lively ‘Chef Action Stations’, where local delights, such as Penang char kuey teow and Hainanese chicken rice, will be prepared à la minute. Guests can also enjoy chicken and beef satay, wholesome bubur lambuk and the staple of all Hari Raya gatherings, succulently-spiced rendang tok complete with nasi impit, ketupat and lemang. In addition to the host of signature dishes and traditional favourites, both the corporate and public buka puasa menus offer contemporary and international choices for diners looking for something a little different. Dishes include pita kebab Arab daging cincang, Japanese teriyaki, roasted fish Tikka, Thai-style BBQ seafood and the Centre’s famous roasted Harissa whole lamb served with sauce and condiments.

Without compromising on the quality and authenticity of the dishes, diners can be assured of world-class service and 5-star cuisine at the Centre’s public buka puasa which is very affordable and well priced at RM145 nett per person and is available for bookings between 23 May and 5 June 2018. Corporate buka puasa banquet promotion for 100 pax or above will be available daily from RM125 nett per person throughout Ramadan.

According to the Centre’s Executive Chef, Hisham Bin Jaafar, “To truly encapsulate a nostalgic journey around Malaysia in this year’s Ramadan offering, our creative culinary team searched all corners of the country to find the 11 signature kampung-inspired dishes that truly represent the best that our states have to offer.”

Echoing Chef Hisham, the Centre’s General Manager, Alan Pryor, shared, “Focusing on convenience, comfort and cuisine, our mouth-watering Ramadan offerings have been customised by our award-winning 52-strong culinary team to offer diners the chance to journey from East to West, North to South, to enjoy traditional multicultural buka puasa fare served right in the heart of the Kuala Lumpur City Centre (KLCC).”
A Ramadan feast would not be complete without the ‘Goreng-gorengan’ station, where diners can enjoy pisang, cempedak, keladi and sukun fritters, keropok lekor and other deep-fried treats. Those looking for a sweet indulgence can delve into Ais Batu Campur (ABC) served with an array of condiments and ice cream, bandung crèmeux, agar-agar cendol, bubur jagung manis, tapai pulut local kuih, fresh fruits and many more.

The Centre also offers Ramadan guests a designated prayer room, prayer mats, sandals, on-site ablution facility and an Imam to lead Muslims in their MaghribIsya’ and Tarawih prayers, allowing guests to comfortably perform their religious duties before breaking fast. With all five of the venue’s kitchens, Chinese, Western, Cold, Pastry and Malay, certified halal by the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM), Muslim guests are able to enjoy their meal with complete peace of mind.
