Mercat Barcelona Gastrobar @ 1 Mont Kiara

Hey! What's your ideal Sunday like? I love the morning without an alarm and of course, relish in a hearty feast with family and friends, even better with great Spanish food and a glass or two of wine. A couple weeks ago, we were at the Mercat Barcelona Gastrobar to check out its amazing Spanish Sunday Brunch. If you don't know yet, Mercat is a through and through Spanish restaurant helmed by Barcelona native, Chef David Caral. It is also one of the four authentic Spanish restaurants in Kuala Lumpur that serves authentic Spanish cuisine made from the freshest and finest ingredients. Imagine immersing yourselves in a Spanish styled atmosphere whilst indulging in traditional Catalan recipes with a contemporary twist, sounds amazing right?

The sumptuous buffet spread showcases a variety of dishes from cold cuts, meats to seafood, salads and desserts. Indulge in the splendor of Spanish cuisine such as Campera Patatas, Naranja, Tortilla De Patatas, Espetos De Sardina, roasted vegetables Spanish style, Pesclto Frito fish, Rabo de Cerdo Iberico Estofado, Cous Cous with Tomato, Raisin and Mint, lamb shank, pork belly, Iberico Ham Jabugo, along with fresh oysters, mussels, shrimp, smoked salmon, various kinds of cheese namely goat cheese, machego, smoked cheese, blue cheese and assorted breads.

This was my first time in a Spanish restaurant, hence, I was really intrigued by this eye-catching Jamon 10 Vetas dry-cured leg ham from Spain.

Freshly sliced paper thin on the spot, the ham was incredibly good and has a wonderful depth of flavour.

The heavenly Spanish cured meats features were Jamon Serrano, Salchichon, Chorizo, Fuet and Cecina. So good to eat on its own or paired with olives and bread.

The seafood station offers fresh and succulent oysters, but if you're not keen on oyster, the meaty mussels and perfectly poached shrimp will not disappoint you.

Pleasantly briny, the oysters was definitely one of the highlights of the buffet. Oh so good!

The refreshing and tangy Naranja salad that sure to tantalise your tastebuds.

Meltingly tender and oozes with flavour, the pork belly was sinfully delicious, we can't help to keep coming back for more and more servings.

The lightly charred Spanish grilled sardine skewer was divinely tasty too

Don't forget to end your meal on a sweet note with the mouth-watering cakes by Miss Shortcakes or the heavenly churros.

Last but not least, a couple of glasses of wine to wash it all down. Easy to drink, the medium-bodied Segura Viudas red wine was fruity and full of flavour.

Besides an extensive selection of great wines, Mercat also offers amazing gin & tonic, sparkling, cava and many more with a perfect atmosphere to relax.

If you are eager to try, the next monthly Spanish Sunday Brunch is happening on 23rd December 2018 from 12pm till 4pm. Don't miss it! Come one, come all to Mercat for the best Spanish food in town.
