Flavours of Festivity: Epicurean Delights for Raya with California Raisins

The holy month of Ramadan is just around the corner! Last week, we had the pleasure of attending a pre-Ramadan celebration event hosted by California Raisins at Texture by C3 Lab. We had the opportunity to delight in California Raisins-infused pastries and beverages as well as explore a specially set up raisin garden where we were able to sample different types of California Raisins. The hands-on experience highlighted the variety of flavors and culinary appeal that raisins offer.

The Flavours of Festivity: Epicurean Delights for Raya event kicked off with an enlightening introduction to California Raisins, where we learned more about their journey from lush vineyards to becoming a key ingredient in both festive and everyday cuisine. Long renowned for their natural sweetness and nutritional content, California Raisins were celebrated as the star of the event.

A Celebration of California Raisin Recipes - Sweet By Nature

The California Raisins-inspired cooking demonstration from two of Malaysia's renowned pastry chefs, Chef Aison and Chef Lawrence Bobo really opened my eyes. These innovative recipe ideas are perfect for the upcoming Raya celebration, combining traditional Raya flavors with contemporary culinary techniques. California Raisins are a staple in health-conscious kitchens. They offer a wholesome alternative to processed sugars, making them a perfect ingredient for festive and everyday cooking.

Chef Aison is a skilled artisan baker with a rich culinary background, and is known for his creativity in producing artisan baked goods. He used his talents to create several unique California Raisins pastries, including California Raisins Hazelnut Baba, California Raisins Kouign-Amann, and California Raisins Carrot Cinnabon.

Meanwhile, Chef Lawrence Bobo is known as 'The Mad Scientist' for his unique take on pastries and confectionaries. Here, he utilized his talent for patisseries to craft a series of sweet treats including California Raisins Apple Tarte Tatin, California Raisins Chocolate Orange Cake, and California Raisins Vanilla Petit Gateau.

The event concluded with a delectable California Raisins-infused meal, meticulously curated by  Chef Aison and Chef Lawrence Bobo featuring California Raisins & Calamansi Spritzer, and California Raisins Waldorf Salad as an appetizer. For the main course, we had Smoked California Raisins Beef Brisket with California Raisins Biryani Rice. Our lunch ended on a sweet note with a California Raisins Apple Tarte Tatin, followed by California Raisins Chocolate Cake and California Raisins Vanilla Cake as petit fours.

We were lucky to receive a copy of booklets featuring recipes by Chef Aison and Chef Lawrence Bobo to try at home. Thank you California Raisins for a fun and enjoyable event!
