A taste of Thailand in Kuala Lumpur!

The Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP) Malaysia, under Thailand’s Ministry of Commerce is proud to unveil the Thai SELECT Pavilion at Food & Drinks Malaysia by SIAL 2025. Held at Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC) Kuala Lumpur from 1st to 3rd July 2025, this special pavilion celebrated the best of Thailand's culinary world in Malaysia through the internationally recognized Thai SELECT certification. MITEC Kuala Lumpur is the official venue sponsor for 4th Global Culinary Competition Malaysia. 

Thai SELECT Pavilion Showcase

The Pavilion featured a curated lineup of Thai SELECT-certified food products that have already thriving in the Malaysian market, brought in by trusted local distributors. Some of the brands include Maepranom, Mae Supen, Deksomboon, Thai Boy, Squid, Thai Dancer and Megachef, all renowned for their quality and authenticity. This showcase reflects Thailand's ongoing strategy to enhance food exports and foster greater appreciation of Thai culinary excellence. 

Thai SELECT Award Ceremony

One of the main highlights was the Thai SELECT Award Ceremony, held on 2nd July from 2:30 PM – 4:30 PM at MITEC Hall 4. The event honoured 53 Thai restaurants in Malaysia that earned the prestigious Thai SELECT certification, a recognition for establishments serving up authentic Thai cuisine using traditional recipes and premium ingredients. There are 3 main categories under the Thai SELECT certification : 

Thai SELECT Casual - Awarded to restaurants serving authentic Thai flavours in a casual setting. 

Thai SELECT 1-Star - Awarded to high quality restaurants that offer full service, stylish decor and beautifully presented unique Thai dishes.

Thai SELECT 2-Star - Awarded to excellent quality restaurants with a stunning atmosphere, creative dishes and professional service. 

Live Cooking Demos – Up Close with Thai Chefs

For three days, award-winning chefs from Thai SELECT restaurants in Malaysia such as COCA Restaurant, Gai by Darren Chin, Malai Thai Cuisine, and others, cooked up iconic mouth-watering Thai dishes like Tom Yum Kung, Pad Thai, Khao Soi, Beef Panang Curry, Ka Prao Beef. 

What is Thai SELECT?

Thai SELECT is a global certification by Thailand's Ministry of Commerce that certifies restaurants and products offering authentic Thai flavours, heritage and culinary pride. Today, over 1,800 restaurants and 900 product lines proudly carry the Thai SELECT certification worldwide. 

Located at the Royal Thai Embassy in Kuala Lumpur, the Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP) Malaysia acts as Thailand’s official trade representative in the country. Its core mission is to support Thai exports and services, foster trade partnerships, and connect Thai and Malaysian entrepreneurs through trade events, business matching and investment facilitation.
