Hakka Rang Restaurant Auspicious Reunion Menu (Review)

This Chinese New Year, Hakka Rang Restaurant has specially curated a variety of auspicious festive dishes.

No Chinese New Year celebration is complete without the Prosperity Toss.

Japanese-Inspired Fresh Fruit & Vegetables Yee Sang
2 different options - Chuka Kurage (Jelly Fish) and Chuka Wakame (Seaweed-Vegan)
Chuka Wakame (Seaweed-Vegan) RM88
 Hakka Rang's yee sang features an assortment of fresh ingredients and condiments such as carrot, cucumber, red cabbage, pomelo and turnip, as well as "Mi Cheng" a lightly sweet and aromatic rice crackers. This Hakka traditional snacks and a famous local food originating from Titi, Jelebu add some crunch and delicious flavour to the yee sang. 

Chuka Kurage (Jelly Fish) RM88
For something more indulgent, let your prosperity flow with this well seasoned Jelly Fish yee sang.

Yam Abacus Seeds RM24.90
An auspicious dish that is popularly served during the Lunar New Year as the ROUND yam abacus  represent reunion and signifies wealth and prosperity. Soft, chewy abacus stir fried with minced pork, dried shrimp, wood ear, mushroom and spring onion, absolutely divine, it's a must try dish!

Stir Fried Leek with Roast Pork RM42.90
Leek pronounced as 'suan' in Mandarin sounds like 'counting' symbolizes an abundance of wealth. 
Tender roast pork with an abundance of subtly sweet leek, an absolute popular homey dish. 

Dongpo Pork served with Mantou RM42.90

Wonderfully braised, tender, melt in your mouth pork belly bursting with umami flavour implies the beginning of a rich and beautiful year.

 Sesame Prawns RM49.90
 Prawn represents 'liveliness', as well as 'happiness' and 'good fortune', because the pronunciation for prawn is "ha" that sounds like laughter. Fried to perfection, the sweet, succulent prawn coated with sweet & sour sauce and sprinkled with sesame seeds was absolutely divine!

 Steam Orange Roughy with Homemade Sauce RM119.90
Not forgetting, fish that symbolizes an abundance and surplus of prosperity every year.
Frankly, it was my first time tasting orange roughly fish and I'm sold. Sweet, delicate texture, the homemade sauce truly elevate the fish taste. Highly recommended!

Fried Mak Choy with Fish in Black Bean Sauce RM23.90
Lastly, some greens with a punch of flavour from black bean sauce, simple but incredibly delicious.
