#ZEROWASTE - Foldover Your Leftovers with Mission Foods

As Malaysians, we love our food, but it's a sad fact that we throw away a staggering amount of 3000 tonnes untouched edible leftovers which is enough to feed 5.3 million people 3 decent meals a day.  In conjunction with this year's World Food Day on October 16th, Mission Foods has joint forces with Celebrity Chef Sarah Benjamin to kick off a 'Foldover Your Leftovers' campaign. The campaign revisits the old adage 'Waste Not Want Not' to inspire people on how to turn leftovers into brand new delicious meals.

Leading the campaign by Mission Foods Malaysia, Sarah will be sharing recipes and ideas through social media, PSAs and even a recipe booklet which will be available in stores with the purchase of Mission products. She will be creating entirely different and diverse new meals from leftovers of everyday Malaysian meals such as curries, satay and chicken rice using Mission Foods wraps, naan and pita. It was Sarah's brilliant approach to local food that caught the attention of Mission Foods.

At the campaign launch, Sarah demonstrated how a simple curry can be made into a tasty Chicken Curry Foldover with Herbed Summer Veges using Mission Onion and Chives Supersoft Wraps.

She simply used leftover curried chicken and potatoes, sauteed with summer vegetables such as zucchini and corn kernels and fresh herbs for that extra zing to be used as the filling for the foldover which was topped with oozy mozzarella cheese.

To reuse leftover satay, Sarah first created a brilliant peanut hummus by blending the peanut sauce with canned chickpeas, taking it a notch up with added flavours. The hummus was used to line the Mission Wholemeal pita pocket before the satay pieces were added in and made complete with a topping of cucumber herb salad, garnished with pickled onion.

She wrapped up the session with a Szechuan Spiced Chicken Rice with Spicy Ginger and Spring Onion Sauce from humble chicken rice leftovers using Mission Supersoft 6-Grain Wraps.

Through these inventive recipes, Sarah wants to encourage more people to come on board to become heroes of #ZeroWaste. Stop discarding your leftovers, be creative and make an amazing new dish with your leftover food.

With the gorgeous Sarah Benjamin.

If you're looking for more recipes, Sarah has produced 12 exciting recipes from leftovers that will be available in a limited edition booklet at all participating stores. The recipes booklet will be given away complimentary to shoppers for every two Mission products purchased, starting from November. Don't miss out!

Hence, the next time you have leftovers to spare, don't throw them away. Step up to the plate and #FoldoverYourLeftovers
