Asian Delights @ Bert's Cafe & Restaurant

Bert's Cafe is tucked away in a quiet corner of the Shah Alam industrial area is truly a hidden gem. I am glad to be introduced to this cafe by a friend recently. Some dishes worth checking out are mentioned below.

Creamy Butter Chicken RM14.90
Highly recommended also one of their best seller. Rich buttery goodness with tender fried chicken. The huge portion of chicken just WOW-ed me.

Moi RM9.90
Plain porridge with an abundance of sambal anchovies, fried shallots, coriander, spring onion and topped with salted egg. Pretty flavourful and interesting combination.

Nasi Lemak RM14.90
Instead of curry or rendang, its perfectly fried honey-spiced chicken to pair with the nasi lemak.

Thumbs up to the juicy and tender chicken though the chicken might look a little burnt.

Mee Kuah RM11.90
With an inspiration from the northern side, the gravy is made of sweet-potato and potatoes blend. Each bowl comes with beef slices, prawns, beancurd, herbs and boiled egg.

Cucur Udang RM7.90
Fried light and crispy, it comes with gula melaka as dipping sauce. I find the cucur udang lack in taste though.

Roti Jala RM7.90
Again, instead of the more common curry chicken, the roti jala is paired with beef curry. Perfectly done tender beef with flavourful curry. Yes..... there are slices of beef in the curry gravy.

Green peas soup, served with rice/garlic toast

Bert's Cafe family secret recipe which is not actually curry! Heavily spiced with tomato as base sauce, the gravy are packed with flavour.  My favourite dish of all and highly recommended.

Sago Gula Melaka RM5.90
Beautiful chilled sago in evaporated milk and a tablespoon of gula melaka on top.

S'mores RM9.90
With digestive biscuit as base, topped with marshmallow and chocolate syrup.

Ristretto Sundae RM9.90
With a shot of ristretto poured over crushed merinque, it comes with vanilla ice cream, whipped cream and topped with shaved chocolate.

Meringue Sundae RM10.90
Crushed merinque with vanilla ice cream and whipped cream topped with fruits, chocolate syrups and groundnuts.

All in all, Bert's Cafe served home made family recipe that not only affordable, taste extremely good but unique as well. Being a protein freak girl, I love how the chicken portion is bigger here and the best part you will get to choose your preferred chicken parts as well. Desserts are a tad sweet for my liking though. Phew... I'm glad that happen. Hahaha.....

Hatten Neon Nite Run 2015

Can't believe 2015 is almost coming to an end. Have you planned your New Year's eve celebration? For a change, why not join the Hatten Neon Nite Run? The Hatten Neon Nite Run is back due to popular demand and this year it’s going to be bigger, bolder and brighter!

Hatten Group is bringing back Melaka’s most exciting year-end event to usher in 2016. Flagging off from Padang Pahlawan, Melaka on 31st December 2015, the route runs through the heart of the city, passing through historical landmarks and circling back to finish at the Padang. Three categories are making a debut this year, the Men’s and Women’s 7km Open and the free and easy 3km Family category which everyone, both young and old, can enjoy. 

The main highlight of the event is the vibrant Neon theme. Participants will be given Neon ‘glow-in-the-dark’ race kits which consist of high quality dri-fit neon jerseys, bibs, wristbands and glow-sticks. Several pit stops will be stationed along the route so participants can enjoy Neon activities such as the illuminated tunnel, UV graffiti, 3D photo ops, splash and dance-off. 

Hatten Group takes it a step further by teaming up with charity beneficiary, UNICEF. In addition to the fun activities and health benefits, Neon Runners will also be running for a cause as Hatten Group is donating RM5 for each participant. Hatten will also double the sum when participant numbers reach more than 5,000 pax - all proceeds to be directed to children in need across the world via the trusted channels of UNICEF.

New Tasty Dim Sum Selection @ Dynasty Restaurant, Renaissance Kuala Lumpur Hotel (Non Halal)

Dynasty Restaurant is one of the very few hotel in Kuala Lumpur that offer porky goodness(non halal) dim sum. 

Spacious interior are elegantly decorated with porcelain features and warm tone.

The restaurant newly appointed Dim Sum Chef Chong Foo Tuck has created a selection of new and delicious home-made Dim Sum. With over 30 years of experience in Dim Sum making, Chef Chong emphasizes on using high quality and fresh ingredients only as he makes all the Dim Sum from scratch daily.

Celebrity Fitness's 20th Club in Malaysia Launched @ Quill City Mall

Wootz... Last week Celebrity Fitness opened its 20th club in Malaysia. Celebrity Fitness, Quill City Mall is strategically located in the heart of Kuala Lumpur’s business districts to cater to those working in offices or residents within the area. The new club joins 34 other Celebrity Fitness clubs in Indonesia and 4 clubs in Singapore, cementing Celebrity Fitness’s reputation as the largest independent fitness club chain in Southeast Asia.

To celebrate this joyous occasion, Celebrity Fitness held a 20-minute Celebrity Fast Fit workout challenge to find out the fitness champion of the day. Celebrity Fitness Vice President, Ryan Cheal officially launched the club with a flag off of the workout challenge.

Fast Fit is a full-body functional training workout that improves stamina, muscle strength and helps to tone. The workout comprised four stations that totaled up to 20 minutes as a symbolic nod to the opening of the 20^th club and saw 20 celebrities and participants try their best at challenges including the Dynamax Ball Burpee, the Kettlebell Swing, the classic RMT Squat and more.
