Indonesian Layer Cake by Vanity Kitchen

Hello! Introducing an Indonesian all time favourite, Indonesian layer cake or better known as kek lapis which has an interesting spice flavour and texture. Sometime just before Chinese New Year, Michelle from Vanity Kitchen sent me a spice flavoured Indonesian layer cake to sample.

My first impression, I love the consistent thin layers of the cake. Took a bite and the taste just impressed me further. Though this is the spice layer cake, it is not overly strong with the spice aroma which is a huge turn off for me. IMO, the mild spice aroma bring out the cake rich flavour. It was not overly sweet too but I do find it a tad oily. Perhaps due to the high content of egg?

If you love layer cake, I would highly recommend you to try this one by Vanity Kitchen. The Original Layer cake is priced at RM90 for 1kg and RM170 for 2kg. They also have other flavours such as prune, chocolate and cheese. Min 3 day pre order is required as all their cakes are baked to order.
